The Claim: The Tru Align is a training aid designed to correct swing alignment and ball position errors. The Tru Align is engineered to put repetition and muscle memory of practicing into competitive play. This breakthrough training aid features two small white rods on a swivel attached to a longer orange rod which is placed in front of the feet for body alignment. The combination of the two small rods can be used for ball position/club face alingnment and to align swing path in relation to body alignment for shaping shots left or right. Now let’s compare the Tru Align vs the standard driveway sticks you commonly see in golfers bags that can be purchased at your local hardware store.
The Test: To attempt to create a body alignment rod, a ball position/clubface alignment rod and a swing path alignment rod I brought three driveway sticks with me to the range with the Tru Align. I set them up side by side at the same target and hit a 7 iron with different shapes, trajectories and distances switching back and forth periodically.
The Verdict: The comparison of the Tru Align and the “other rods” was not even close. First off I hit triple the amount of golf balls on the Tru Align because the other setup kept moving around and when I had to create a new divot patch, ball position or swing path I had to take the time to setup three rods again which is very frustrating. The Tru Align will be in my bag from now on as its light weight, easy to setup/put away, creates accurate alignments and allows me to spend my time practicing as opposed to playing around with alignment aids for the majority of my practice session. I am now Tru Aligned. Are You?
